I’ve selected Luky Sherman for today’s Plus Project. Originally from Bangladesh, Luky is now an author and model living Florida. Today is the one month anniversarry of the publishing of her book, titled Bengali Girls Don’t. Bengali Girls Don’t is the uncensored story of Luky’s life, from being born in a small village in Bangladesh, surviving Bangladesh’s liberation, and a forced marriage at the age of 15. Luky’s story is a visceral look at what Bengali life was like for her, and it doesn’t shy away from the terrors of genocide, the horror of of living a life not of your own choosing, and the atrocities that people commit against each other. She was recently featured on The Women of G+, and she blogs regulary on Blogspot where she writes poetry, shares interesting stories, and posts about her book (you can also read part of the book there). It’s no surprise that she also models, so if you’re in the market for someone to stand-in for your next profile photo you can contact her through Luky tweets @lukysherman about just about anything, and you can add her as a friend on Facebook. I haven’t finished Luky’s book yet (I’m working on it!), but it is a testament to the strength of her spirit and courage, and she clearly has a radiant heart to match her smile. Luky is a stunning woman with a remarkable story, and you’ll be missing out if you don’t add her to your circles.

For today’s Plus Project I’ve selected Ash Donaldson. Ash is a User Experience designer living in Sydney, Australia. He studies the way people utilize products and services, and how they are affected by their environments. He then uses that knowledge to create human-centered designs that just work better for people. Ash is the first Australian to act as an expert witness witness to the federal court in human-computer interaction, and he acted as Sydney’s Leader and event organiser for the inaugural World Usability Day event in November 2005. Throughout his career he has worked with Fuji-Xerox, National Australia Bank, and has spoken at TEDx. Check out this video of him speaking at TEDx 2010 on his thoughts on cognitive dissonance.

Ash posts on his blog at where he has some wonderfully insightful thoughts on user experience design, and the ways in which our minds work, or fail to work the way we might expect. He tweets @ashdonaldson about topics ranging from politics to atheism, and he posts absolutely beautiful photos on Flickr. You can connect with Ash on LinkedIn, or add become his friend on Facebook. I love the way Ash tackles design from a human centered perspective, and if you’ve ever wondered how a specific item worked so well then you will too. Be sure to add him to your circles, and wish him an early happy birthday (September 9th)!

She is a self proclaimed foodie and Mystery Science Theater 3000 enthusiast. Annie posts regularly on Google+, as well as on, a blog that she shares with her husband. They post about a wide range of stuff, but notably this video where Annie discusses a challenge she is working on for RAINN, the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network. RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, and Annie just took her 900,000th step for them just earlier today (mega-congrats, Annie)!

Annie likes Harry Potter and Neil Gaiman, and she enjoys the music of The Donnas. Annie tweets often @thinklynsen about all kinds of cool stuff. She is also part of band of Pirates (literally, they’re a musical band). You can add her as a friend on Facebook, or add her to your network on LinkedIn. I love Annie’s exuberance, and the support she offers to victims of sexual crimes. If you have a heart for the work of RAINN, or if you just like awesome witty people, you’ll be glad to have her in your circles.

Today I have selected 凌霄 for the Plus Project. 凌霄 lives in Hangzhou, China, with his wife 媛媛 and his young daughter 七七. His name seems to translate to “Peak”, and his profile says his occupation is water development, but I’m not real sure what all that entails. He attended Wuhan University of Technology, and it seems he graduated in 2000. 凌霄 writes in Chinese, which I do not know how to read, so I’m using Google Translate to to try to understand his posts. I’m not sure how much faith I place in Google Translate, but it’s a good starting point. 凌霄 blogs at, about daily life and travel. He also posts some adorable photographs of his daughter there. His family has recently been traveling, so he talks about that, and it seems he is deeply thinking about truth and how to spread it to as many people as he can. 凌霄 also posts at, where he speaks mostly about movies. He has some lovely photographs of his family on Picasa, and I particularly enjoyed seeing all of the things his daughter is doing and learning. 凌霄, I don’t know if you can read this, but I hope you do and that you know that I think you have a beautiful family. You are clearly a loving father, and I hope that life gives you all that you hope for your daughter. I am honored that you would share your life, and I know you will find joy in truth.

She operates, and her company produces marketing trailers for books, mostly in the Young Adult category. If you’re like me you might be thinking “Books have trailers?”. Vania just graduated from Georgia State University earlier this year, so be sure to offer her a warm congratulations on her achievement. She likes Johnny Cash and Kings of Leon (did someone say mashup?), and she is an avid reader. She also likes dancing, playing around in Photoshop (one of my favorite pastimes), and watching awesome movies like The Departed. Vania shoots some fantastic pictures for fun and work which you can check out on Flickr. She tweets at an incredible rate @VLC_Photo about food, photography, and of course books. She’s looking for a personal assistant, so anyone with skills may want to hit her up.
